A new kind of love story about flipping houses, taking risks, and landing that special someone who’s move-in ready…

SHE’S GOT CURB APPEAL
Rian Sutter grew up with the finer things in life. Spending summers in The Hamptons was a normal occurrence for her until her parents lost everything years ago. Now Rian and her sister are getting their life, and finances, back on track through real estate. Not only do they buy and sell houses to the rich and famous, but they finally have the capital to flip their very own beachfront property. But when she inadvertently catches the attention of a sexy stranger who snaps up every house from under her, all bets are off…

HE’S A FIXER UPPER
Pierce Whitfield doesn’t normally demo kitchens, install dry wall, or tear apart a beautiful woman’s dreams. He’s just a down-on-his-luck lawyer who needed a break from the city and agreed to help his brother work on a few homes in the Hamptons. When he first meets Rian, the attraction is undeniable. But when they start competing for the same pieces of prime real estate, the early sparks turn into full-blown fireworks. Can these passionate rivals turn up the heat on their budding romance — without burning down the house?

It's been a while since I've read anything by Helena Hunting, and when I came across I Flipping Love You, I was excited! I just needed something light and amusing, and Hunting delivered with this spicy read!

Pierce and Rian had chemistry right from their initial meeting, despite the issues and the banter that occurred between them. I loved the way that they both stuck to their guns and wouldn't back down. There were a few chance meetings and each time I could see the connection between them getting stronger.

I liked that they had something in common and had plans to flip houses. Rian had a dream to take on an estate that meant a lot to her, and these plans she slowly divulged to Pierce. However, they both had secrets that kept the distance between them... even though they were as hot as hell between the sheets.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading I Flipping Love You! Pierce and Rian were so entertaining to read about. They were both determined and focused on their goals and at times they even worked well together. I liked meeting each of their siblings and seeing the affect that they had on their lives. I was sad to see how both Rian and her sister were treated by her parents, but was grateful that she found someone like Pierce to make her whole once again.

All the Little Lights by Jamie McGuire ~ Review & Quote-tastic (@JamieMcGuire)

All the Little Lights releases tomorrow and it was quite the thrilling journey! I loved the way this story unfolded and how the little twists were revealed gradually. I was on the edge of my seat, I tell you!

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jamie McGuire comes a riveting tale of first love that starts young but runs deep.

The first time Elliott Youngblood spots Catherine Calhoun, he’s just a boy with a camera, and he’s never seen a sadder and more beautiful sight. Both Elliott and Catherine feel like outcasts, yet they find an easy friendship with each other. But when Catherine needs him most, Elliott is forced to leave town.

Elliott finally returns, but he and Catherine are now different people. He’s a star high school athlete, and she spends all her free time working at her mother’s mysterious bed-and-breakfast. Catherine hasn’t forgiven Elliott for abandoning her, but he’s determined to win back her friendship…and her heart.

Just when Catherine is ready to fully trust Elliott, he becomes the prime suspect in a local tragedy. Despite the town’s growing suspicions, Catherine clings to her love for Elliott. But a devastating secret that Catherine has buried could destroy whatever chance of happiness they have left.

It's been a long time since I've read anything by Jamie McGuire, and when I came across All the Little Lights, it sounded a little different to what I usually read, so I had to snap it up! I wanted to know why Elliott and Catherine felt like outcasts, why they were forced apart and whether or not they would let each other in and get back together.

Watching Catherine struggle with the issues she had at home was difficult, but I was glad that she finally had someone to turn to. Elliott lifted her spirit and made her feel normal. It was sweet seeing them together, and realising that they had a lot in common in regards to dysfunctional families. They really connected but when Catherine needed him most, Elliott was gone...

I loved how Elliott worked hard to gain Catherine's trust again, although she did everything she could to keep him away. I really wanted her to find a way to let him in, because when I realised what was happening at home, I thought that she should never had shouldered that burden alone. It was heartbreaking seeing Catherine alone, but with Elliott back she slowly let people in and learned to trust others again.

All the Little Lights really is a touching story, as both characters deal with situations that are out of their control. There are tough events that they go to together, and as individuals, but I could see that their love and connection never truly died. Jamie McGuire really did a magnificent job at delivering this story. She created broken characters that needed one another to become strong enough to change their lives. She kept me on edge and guessing the twist right up until the very end!

This was a sweet moment between Catherine and Elliott that I just had to share...

I stared at her in awe, shaking my head and then cupping her face, planting a soft kiss on her lips. I leaned forward, touching her forehead to mine. She had to love me. She had to. I closed my eyes. “Promise me something.”
“What?” she asked.
“Please let this be something that lasts. Not like our parents. Not something trivial. I don’t want to be the high school boyfriend you tell your friends about when you’re an adult.”
“You give me too much credit, assuming I’ll have friends.”
“You’ll have friends. Lots of friends. People who adore you like I do.”
She lifted her chin and rose up on the balls of her feet to kiss me one last time before she pulled on the handle. It stuck, so I reached across and pushed on it hard enough that it opened.
I gently held her arm, stopping her before she stepped out onto the curb. The Chrysler was our space, a place where outside forces couldn’t touch. I felt more connected with her there and brave enough to tell her whatever was on my mind. “I love you, Catherine.”
Her eyes sparkled. “I love you, too.”

I Dare You by Ilsa Madden-Mills ~ Review & Swoon Thursday (@ilsamaddenmills)

I Dare You is the first book in a new series by Ilsa Madden-Mills. I love sports romances, and I devoured this one quite quickly! I'll be eager to return to this world... there are a few characters that I'd love to see more of!

Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills returns with an all-new swoon-fest of a novel about what happens when you look beyond labels and take a chance on love.

Badass Athlete: I dare you to…
Delaney Shaw: Who is this?

The late night text is random, but "Badass Athlete" sure seems to know who she is…

Delaney Shaw.
Good girl.
Lover of fluffy kitties and Star Wars.
Curious.

His dare? Spend one night in his bed—a night he promises will be unforgettable—and she can solve the mystery of who he is.

She knows she shouldn't, but what else is she going to do with her boring Valentine's Day? One sexy hook-up later, her mind is blown and the secret's out.

Maverick Monroe.
Bad boy.
The most talented football player in the country.
Just ask him.

Too bad for him Delaney's sworn off dating athletes forever after her last heartbreak.

But Maverick wants more than one night and refuses to give up on winning Delaney’s heart. She isn’t one to be fazed by a set of broad shoulders.

Will the bad boy land the nerd girl or will the secrets they keep from each other separate them forever?

If Ilsa Madden-Mills puts out a book, there is a fair chance I'm going to read it! So it was a no brainer that I picked up I Dare You and met Maverick and Delaney. And what a hoot these two turned out to be! They were both so amusing to read about, and from the epilogue I just wanted them to get together.

I liked that Delaney was a nerdy type of girl, with confidence and a little sass. In the beginning she was a bit sad due to her break up, but with anonymous texts and a growing relationship with Maverick, I could see the fun girl that Delaney could be. It was nice to see her stand up for herself too, she wasn't the kind of girl to cower behind a guy.

Maverick was the kind of guy that oozed confidence and was willing to chase after what he wanted. I liked the way he constantly flirted with Delaney and pushed her buttons. The more time they spent together I knew they would make it. Like every love story, there were hurdles that they had to work through, that had me hoping they were strong enough to make it!

I really enjoyed being in this world and meeting both of these characters. Maverick's life wasn't as easy as he portrayed it to be, as he juggled his home life and the career he was working on. He kept secrets that could ultimately destroy what he was building with Delaney. She was a patient girl though and managed to get to the bottom of everything and I was glad she took the initiative.

The thing that annoyed me though, I was expecting it to be a longish book, then things wrapped up quickly and at 56% it was the end of the story... then twenty chapters of another book. But regardless, I still loved Maverick and Delaney's story!

This swoon runs together today... the initial meet up! So sweet!

“Legend says the first person you kiss at the party is the one you’ll never forget. It might be years later, and still their face is the one you dream about.”
“Sounds like hocus-pocus.”
He lifts that mesmerizing left eyebrow. “I like to believe in legends—after all, I am one.”
I smirk. “Probably a game made up by some frat-boy-slash-jock wanting to kiss all the girls.”
He pauses for a moment as if thinking, and then he steps in closer, so close that I can see the varying shades of blue around his pupils. “May I?”
My heart does somersaults.
“May you what?” I ask, my voice low, but I know what he wants. My body is already leaning toward him, wanting it too.
“This.” He kisses me, an almost imperceptible touch as he brushes his full lips against mine. The contact of our mouths is electric, sparks of fire skating along my skin.

And then...

“What was that?” I ask, my voice breathless.
“That’s your first kiss of the bonfire. Now you’ll never forget me.”
And then, before I can think of a reply, he’s gone.

The Thing About Love by Kim Karr ~ Review & Quote-tastic (@authorkimkarr)

It's been a long time since I read a Kim Karr read and this one jumped out at me when I was looking for my next read. It wasn't all fun and flirty, with a touch of seriousness entwined through the story, but it was still a great read.

The whole stethoscope-and-white coat thing isn't my cup of tea.
I prefer a man with an artistic vein in his body. 9 - 5 hours. And I can definitely do without the half-lidded, sleepy bedroom eyes. (Okay, so those are kind of sexy.)

Tall, dark, and handsome doesn't change the fact that he's arrogant, cocky, and rude.
Not that I care, but he's made it clear he wants nothing to do with a quirky girl like me, which is why he said no.

Turns out no isn't an option.

I have a quickie wedding to plan, and Dr. Jake Kissinger doesn't have a choice. He looks at our situation like he's stuck with me, but in reality, I'm stuck with him. Stuck with his pouty mouth. His long, lean body. And stuck with those loose, low riding scrub pants. (Okay, so the doctor thing is growing on me.)

When spending time together turns into more than it should, I know I'm in trouble.
He isn't supposed to make my heart pound.
I'm not supposed to make him look twice.
And we aren't supposed to spend the night together. (Okay, so he has more than one artistic vein in his body, and other places.)

Falling for him is definitely a mistake.

Here's the thing...
Jake is unavailable, and I know it.
Just not in the way you might think.

I guess you can't have your cake and eat it too.

This book started all light and flirty which drew me into the story and had me excited to see how these characters would be together. As the story continued though, it became a little intense and had a sad tone about it. Jules and Jake had lost people who were important to them and their loss shaped them into the people they became today.

Jules was an amusing character to read about. She seemed a bit unorganised but managed to get to her appointment on time. She was trying to run her uncle's wedding planner business and really enjoyed it, but was finding it hard to stay afloat. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for those she loved.

I loved the Jake we met in the beginning... all cheeky and carefree. However, after an amusing misunderstanding, he turned into a cold person who was determined not to hire Jules. He had a few moments that made me like him, like seeing how much he cared for his grandmother and he wanted to do anything to make her dreams come true. I could see that he was a good guy but the demons in his past kept him focused to do what he had always planned to do.

Jules and Jake had more in common than any of them realised, and it was hard to see them struggle with their past. The author did a fantastic job of bringing this issue to light, even though Jake tried hard to keep Jules away. Jake really pushed my buttons at times, but both characters were a little stubborn. If you haven't tried Kim Karr before, this is a good read to start off with.

This was amusing... these two had chemistry!!

He stepped even closer to me.
For some insane reason, my pulse started to race, and things that felt like butterflies in my belly seized me. These had to be new client butterflies, but I’d never gotten them like this before.
“I’m sorry if I’m staring,” he said, lifting his arm, “but I think you have a little—” As the words tumbled from his mouth, his finger slowly swiped across my bottom lip.
I closed my eyes.
“Frosting, right here,” he finished.
Oh my God!

Life has not been easy for Penelope Summers. Specifically, the last month, when her high-profile boyfriend dumped her, her indecent exposure record surfaced, and her favorite thing in the world, tequila, failed her.

Good thing for Penelope, she has her best friend to pick her up, and take her on the vacation of a lifetime. A seven-day cruise that will change the direction of her downward spiral. But will that spiral shift in the direction Penelope needs? Or will it throw her into a bigger whirlwind of trouble?

With Reckless Abandon as her motto, tequila as her wingman, and a hot one-night stand as her much needed reward, will the tables finally turn for Penelope, or will life as she knows it continue to fail her?

Sometimes you just have to ride the wave of crazy to find out.

What an unexpected ride this turned out to be! I honestly hadn't read J.D. Hollyfield before, but I came across this one on my Kindle App and had to give it a whirl! It was an entertaining read, I tell ya, because Penelope was such an amusing character to read about! She was a bit of a disaster and could never manage to be on time, however, she was a kind hearted person who deserved better than her boyfriend Henry.

After getting dumped, I loved the way she took revenge... not just the coffee order, but the trip away with her friend Patti, where she finds amazing chemistry with Sam on the final night of her cruise. He was hot as hell, lured Penelope out of her comfort-zone and treated her the way a woman needs to be treated. What Penelope didn't expect was to cross paths again, which began as a roller coaster ride for the both of them.

This book wasn't all about the lust and attraction that these two shared, there was a bit of intensity and danger to the read as Penelope's past came back to haunt her. Although Henry was the one to dump Penelope, it seemed like he couldn't let her go completely. I did love the way that Sam fought for her, despite having secrets of his own.

I really enjoyed my first ever read by J.D. Hollyfield, and I know I will be picking up more of her work. She created a casual, carefree world that was easy to be drawn into. I liked that Penelope had a good friend in Patti, and even though she went through some tough times Penelope was strong enough to hold her head high. The chemistry between Sam and Penelope oozed between the pages and I just could not get enough of them. I'm keen to get more from this world, I tell you!

Don't these words just make you swoon!

“You ran away from me once and it wrecked me. I knew the moment I set eyes on you that night you were someone that I needed. I crave you, Penelope Summers. Let me worship you. Let me show you I can be someone you can trust.”

Hunter by Eden Summers ~ Review & Swoon Thursday (@EdenSummers1)

Eden Summers has nailed it with Hunter, I tell you! I was hooked right from the start and demolished this book quickly. It had the perfect mix of hotness, suspense and characters that I adored!

A seductively thrilling game of cat and mouse destined to leave you breathless.

I've been running for ten years - fleeing my past and clawing my way toward an inescapable act of vengeance.

Until he walks into my life, sure and strong and full of secrets.

He dilutes my thirst for retribution with his touch. He obliterates my need for solitude with his kiss. But it's his hidden agenda that makes the hair on the back of my neck prickle.

He wants something. Something that doesn't revolve around sweaty skin and tangled silk sheets like he'd have me believe.

I have to stop falling for him, otherwise the last ten years will all be for nothing. I need to keep running, keep fighting for vengeance, even though I know he will track me down.

But trying to escape him is just another problem. Because now I crave the hunt.

As soon as I dove into Hunter I was hooked! It was entertainment plus from cover to cover! It began with one girls quest to seek revenge, and along the way we found out what happened to her to put her on the path that she was on. What she didn't expect was Hunter turning up in her life and how distracted she would get from being around him.

What really kept me hooked was the suspense! Our main character – Steph/Princess/Emma – she showed us and told us that she meant business and would do everything she could to get the information she wanted. She lived a quiet life and didn't have a social life, but would occasionally visit a bar that put her in the path of Hunter.

Hunter fell hard for his Princess; she got under his skin and even a night of passion did nothing to ease the itch. He wanted her and found it hard to let her go. Hunter had secrets of his own, and he lead quite the secretive life as well, I just knew these two belonged together.

This was a different read to what I expected from Eden Summers, and for me, she nailed it perfectly! It had the right mix of suspense, romance and mystery, that kept me glued to the pages and eager for more. She introduced a few characters that fleshed out the story more, and I would love to see more of them!

This one is certainly heating up!!

I swing around, needing those lips on mine.
He sates me immediately, taking my mouth with a harshness I don’t anticipate. I’m used to soft kisses. Kind and timid. This is profoundly better. A fierce, punishing collision of lips and teeth and tongues.
His hands find my hips and he grinds into me, teasing me with anticipation. “Who are you, Steph?” He holds my gaze, those eyes as questioning as his words.
“I’m a memory you’re going to treasure forever.” I grip his shirt and pull him forward, demanding more of his mouth.
