He wants the world and the admiration of everyone in it.
Sean Taiden, the inconspicuous drummer of Reckless Beat, is sick of living in the shadows of his bandmates’ success. He’ll do anything to gain the recognition he deserves. Even if it means dancing in a music video to the Reckless track that drives a knife into his broken heart whenever he hears it. The saving grace is the tempting choreographer who may be the one person able to distract him from the agony his life has become.

All she wants is the peace that comes with solitude.
Melody Jenkins knows all about fame. She knows enough to determine she doesn’t want a part of it anymore. After quitting her professional dance career, she set up a quiet studio and focused on starting a new beginning away from prying eyes. Until a sexy drummer strides into her life, making her crave something she can’t have while also pushing her to expose secrets she can’t bear to reveal.

Conflicting aspirations and one inextinguishable passion.
She needs to hide from the world she once owned. He wants to rise to the top, proving to himself and his friends that he’s always been the heartbeat of the band. Caught between what they need and what they want, Melody and Sean have to decide which is more important—their individual plans for the future or their feelings for one another.

I have enjoyed each and every book in the Reckless Beat series, and Sultry Groove was another fantastic instalment! Sean is a character that I have liked throughout the series, and I was excited to meet the girl who would help his heart heal after what happened in Undesired Lust. The beginning of Sultry Groove was difficult for Sean as I could see how much Mason and Sidney’s relationship was affecting him, but he was soon distracted by his choreographer as they rehearsed for the video clip that he was to star in.

I liked seeing Sean grow and heal through Sultry Groove; his heart had taken a hammering and the time he spent with Melody began to ease the pain. He became more confident, tried to pursue Melody and gave in to each of her demands, just so he could have her. He was sweet, caring and determined. They have a great connection and the chemistry between them was pretty intense.

Melody used to enjoy the spotlight, until an incident shattered her life and her confidence. She used to be quite the confident girl, but now she is hiding, and is unsure of how to let people in. I could feel the turmoil that Melody was dealing with and I hoped Sean would get her out of her sad state. She would start to let Sean in, but would then shut down and turn him away. Sean didn’t want to push her too hard because he feared that he would lose her.

I liked seeing all the other members of Reckless Beat too. Mitch, Blake and Mason are all happy in their relationships. They all continue to bicker with one another, but are always there to support one another. Ryan isn’t having an easy time and Leah is supporting everyone as best as she can.

I really enjoy how easy I can be swept away in Eden’s writing and her character building. In each book I can feel the differences between the characters: their personalities, how they tackle certain situations, and what they do to support one another. Sean and Melody don’t have dominating personalities like some of the other characters in the series. They are both quite reserved and hesitant to let others too close for fear of losing them. I enjoyed how their story unfolded and how they eventually bared their insecurities and let one another in. Sultry Groove ended with me in a bit of shock, and I’m not-so-patiently waiting for more from this series!

I have a couple of small quotes today, I love Sean telling Melody how it is, and had to throw in a little Mason cheekiness!

“Let me get one thing clear. You don’t tell me to stop because it feels good. OK? Ever. I only stop if I’m hurtin’ you, or you’re not enjoying it. You feel me?”

Got to love Mason!!

“He must be hungry,” a male voice vibrated off the walls. “He’s eating her face off.”
