Review ~ I See London by Chanel Cleeton

I See London (I See London, #1)Title: I See London
Author: Chanel Cleeton
Series: I See London #1
Genre: NA Contemporary Romance
Published: February 3rd 2014

Maggie Carpenter is ready for a change— and to leave her ordinary life in South Carolina behind. But when she accepts a scholarship to the International School in London, a university attended by the privileged offspring of diplomats and world leaders, Maggie might get more than she bargained for.

When Maggie meets Hugh, a twentysomething British guy, she finds herself living the life she always wanted. Suddenly she’s riding around the city in a Ferrari, wearing borrowed designer clothes and going to the hottest clubs. The only problem? Another guy, the one she can’t seem to keep her hands off of.

Half French, half Lebanese, and ridiculously wealthy, Samir Khouri has made it clear he doesn’t do relationships. He’s the opposite of everything Maggie thought she wanted…and he’s everything she can’t resist. Torn between her dream guy and the boy haunting her dreams, Maggie has to fight for her own happy ending. In a city like London, you never know where you stand, and everything can change in the blink of an eye.

This is a New Adult romance recommended for readers 17 and up.

After reading the description to this book, I wanted to snap it up. I am a fan of the New Adult genre and I was looking forward to the change of scenery. So let’s go to London!! I found I See London to be a fun, quirky read and I seemed to giggle my way through most of the book.

It was amusing to venture with Maggie to her new school in London. She wasn’t accepted into her first college of choice, so thought if she wanted change, make it big!! Her first day at school included meeting Samir! Maggie is a good girl, who has basically zero experience with boys, so she was unsure how to deal with him. It was funny and even more so when he pops up in her room!! Cracked me up severely!

This book spans over the course of a school year and so much happens in this time that changes Maggie for the better. She started off as the shy girl but became a more confident woman by the end. She made some great friends who seem to be from a different world to her, but they treat each other the same. She has plenty of school drama, boy trouble and travels to Paris and Venice. There are plenty of high points for Maggie, but she goes through some lows as well, especially when her Dad is involved. But playing strip rummy… that was definitely a funny part of the journey!!

I liked all the side characters too; they all have a big effect on Maggie along the way. They all bought her out of her shell by including her in things she probably wouldn’t normally do. Fleur started off as the school biatch, but it was more a front. Samir is a player, but you can see the chemistry between him and Maggie. And Hugh… seems like a great gentleman. *Sigh* how one girl can choose out of those two hotties is beyond me!!

This is the first book by Chanel Cleeton and I thoroughly enjoyed it! It was a light quirky read and I was sucked into the pages! It was told from Maggie’s perspective, which is how I prefer to read books and I felt like I was right there with Maggie. I am looking forward to the sequel which will have alternating POV’s!! Now that looks like fun! July will not get here soon enough!

I received a copy of this book from the Publisher, via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

  5. Yep, this sounds fantastic, Naomi! You know I love character growth in a book and it sounds as though Maggie does quite a bit of maturing. Add in the fact that there's humor...can you tell I'm in need of some humor?!? Great review, girl! (by the way, I thought it was funny I said I would probably be snatching this one up and then in the first line of your review you said after reading the synopsis, you wanted to snap this one up! ;)

  10. I don't think it is a real triangle. She just tries dating another guy although she has an attraction to Samir. It was a fun read!

  11. The triangle isn't too bad. You can see there is a connection between Maggie and one guy in particular.
