Summary From Goodreads

He plays by the rules, she’s not afraid to break them. Now these two strong-willed army captains will prove that opposites attract . . .

A by-the-book captain with a West Point background, Captain Evan Loehr refuses to mix business with pleasure—except for an unguarded instance years ago when he succumbed to the deep sensuality of redheaded beauty Claire Montoya. From that moment on, though, Evan has been at odds with her, through two deployments to Iraq and back again. But when he is asked to train a team prepping for combat alongside Claire, battle-worn Evan is in for the fight of his life.

Strong, gutsy, and loyal, Captain Claire Montoya has worked hard to earn the rank on her chest. In Evan, Claire sees a rigid officer who puts the rules before everything else—including his people. When the mission forces them together, Claire soon discovers that there is more to Evan than meets the eye.

He’s more than the rank on his chest; he’s a man with dark secrets and deep longings. For all their differences, Evan and Claire share two crucial passions: their country and each other.

This is the first Military Romance book that I have read and it was just amazing!!  Jessica Scott has put so much emotion and real life experience into this book that it is such an overwhelming read! I can’t relate to the military lifestyle myself, but to read about these characters is simply awe-inspiring!

In Until There Was You, we meet Claire and Evan. They are both in the Army and they have a connection from the first time they meet. Evan realises that Claire is also in the Army and he never mixes business with pleasure, so he lets her walk away from him.

We jump into the future and after a few deployments together, Evan and Claire are sent to work at a military base in Colorado. They are both independent and strong willed people who find it hard to work together as their personalities clash. But now that they are on this mission they need to put their personal feelings aside to prepare a team to be deployed.

Evan and Claire are trying to fight the attraction they have for each other and while doing so they have to deal with their emotional scars and their physical ones too. They both have Demon’s in their past and they turned to the Army to change their lives for the better. But being sent into the battlefield creates a whole new set of Demon’s for the both of them. They end up on a journey of self discovery which could bring them together.

I love the chemistry that Evan and Claire have. It’s fascinating to watch them struggle with it as they have such strong personalities, but then we also see their softer sides and it is beautiful to see them sort through their emotions.

Until There Was You is the first novel I have read by Jessica Scott and I think she has written a brilliant Romance story. It was written beautifully and I would love to read more of her work, maybe see some of the other characters from this novel in their own book.... that would be fantastic!!
